Paris Adventure: Day 4

This morning we saw the sun! And we saw it repeatedly off and on throughout the day! We started our day with a walk through Montmartre, including Sacre Coeur. The walk was great--we saw lots of houses where famous people used to live such as Tristen Tzara, Renoir, and Van Gogh. We also saw some windmills, including, of course, the Moulin Rouge. You will be able to see all of our stopping points when we post the pictures online. After feeding Ben in the rather seedy sex shop part of Paris, we decided to trust our guidebook once again and eat lunch at a restaurant called Le Restaurant. We highly recommend it. Josh ordered a parmesan and tomato salad and lamb tagine and I ordered aubergine caviar and veal (no, I typically don't eat veal) cooked in vanilla. We temporarily forgot we were in France when I ordered because it didn't cross our minds that my meal could have cream sauce, but it did and even thought the hostess said that I could order something else, Josh graciously traded meals with me and we were both incredibly happy. From lunch we took the metro to the Trocadero and saw some breakdancers and the Eiffel Tower. We had enjoyed the view from Sacre Coeur and didn't feel the need to wait in line to go up the Tower so we continued on to the Marais and ended up at the cafe we skipped yesterday. It was so delicious--apple tartin and pear and almond pie. Ah, Paris. We learned from our outing last evening that Ben should be in the hotel room earlier tonight so we went back to the hotel, Josh did some laundry and Ben was asleep by 7:30PM. If Thomas, our friend from Belgium, is over his bout of the flu then he will join us in Paris tomorrow for a walk by the St. Martin Canal, trip to Rue Mouffetard and picnic at the Jardin du Luxembourg.
