Our Boys

Goodness. There is so much I want to say about the boys that I find it difficult to begin.

1. Ben says a million funny, surprising and touching things a day. He lately is interested to know whether today is tomorrow. Sometimes I say yes.

2. Eli is army crawling--and he is fast. He loves chasing Ben around the floor and is interested in any type of string, cord, or magazine. He loves Ben's toy trucks and construction equipment and is starting to crawl over things too.

3. Eli cut his first tooth last night.

4. Eli's favorite songs include Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Old MacDonald, and BINGO.

5. Ben's new obsession is outer space and astronauts.

6. Ben constantly asks about the etymology of words and how to spell words.

7. Ben knows more than half (if not all) the letters in sign language. Ben's favorite signs are I love you, rock on (does that count?), and the letter "y."

8. Ben counts for me every morning just before I get out of the shower. (Getting out of the shower has always been my least favorite part of the day.) He usually counts to 16 more or less...1.2.3.5.6.7.8.9.10.11.12.13.16.14.4.

9. Josh is reading The BFG to Ben every night before bed. Any child development/ speech and language experts out there? Is it bad to read a chapter book to a 2 1/2 year old? He likes it.

10. Eli has eaten pears (his favorite), prunes (his second favorite), spinach, peas, sweet potatoes, bananas, and blended chicken soup with carrots, sweet potatoes, and parsnip. He likes to eat solid food in the afternoon, but not every afternoon. He is definitely still hooked on breast milk.

11. Eli has been chatting up a storm. We probably have some video which you may see eventually.

12. Eli is still not sitting up. He has the strength, but no interest. Ben was sitting up at 6 and 3/4 months and did not enjoy moving until he crawled at 10 1/2 months.

13. Eli loves toys that squeak.

14. Eli is all about his mom. He cries if I walk past him.

15. Ben needs his shades and his steering wheel (an old plastic steamer for the microwave) in the car.

16. When Ben wants us to pull the car over he tells us to "pull up." He does this when he wants to eat a snack in the car so that he can eat while we are stopped and steer when we are moving. Ben also wants to know when we are pushing the brakes or accelerator and know the names of the streets as we drive.

17. Ben loves watching sunsets. Eli loves watching the rain.

18. We read Snuggle Puppy to Eli every night before he goes to sleep.

19. The boys both love the bath. Eli kicks like a maniac and Ben plays with his boats and squirty bath toys.

20. We used to put some toys away before other kids came over to play, but now Ben wants his friends to play with all of his toys.

21. Eli is the BEST baby to hug. He does not move and just lets you squish him!

22. Ben likes when we say, "Yippee!" after he kisses us on the lips.

We are so lucky to have such lovey, chubby boys!!!!

Seriously. Get out of here. They are too smart and perfect! Ben sounds like a genius.

And no, there is NOTHING bad about reading a chapter book to Ben. The only way it could be bad is if he hated it and you were tying him in a chair Clockwork Orange style, forcing him to listen. :)

Good list! And I agree, definitely nothing wrong with a chapter book! I was just thinking that James was ready for one at bedtime. I am thinking Charlotte's Web or Stuart Little will be his first :-)
